Black Female Therapist in California and Virginia

Uncover clarity, embrace healing, and experience transformation.

Hi, I’m Krystal.

You’ve landed here because you’re tired, overwhelmed, or maybe unsure of how to move forward.

I help people come home to themselves. I sit with individuals who are tired of pretending they’re okay, couples who are fighting the same fight on repeat, and families and teens who love each other but don’t know how to show it. I hold space for the messy, the honest, the broken parts—because that’s where the real work starts.

I see you. I’m here to help you:

  • Lean into authenticity and to show up as your full, honest self

  • Honor your story while helping you develop self-compassion and acceptance

  • Heal, not by being perfectionistic, but instead by gaining steady progress and deeper understanding of yourself

  • Develop strong relationships through communication coaching, while creating space for vulnerability and trust

  • Believe that even in brokenness, there is hope

Hi there! I’m Krystal, the founder of Wellspring Counseling Co. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #154808 & #0717002454) based in California & Virginia, and I offer Telehealth therapy sessions to teens and adults.

My Approach

I believe that meaningful change happens through reflection, feedback, and supportive challenge.

My approach to therapy is collaborative. As an African American woman with Caribbean roots, it is essential to me to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and relationships from your unique culture and perspective. I listen closely, offer insight, and help you gain clarity around the patterns, behaviors, and beliefs that may no longer serve you. I primarily view healing through a relational and attachment-based lens, exploring how early experiences and interpersonal dynamics shape the way you relate to yourself and others.

My goal is to strike a balance—offering a space that feels safe and supportive, while also being honest and direct when needed. I approach therapy with warmth, empathy, and curiosity. I want clients to feel comfortable enough to show up as they are, without the pressure to have it all figured out.

My Values

“As a therapist, I am a companion. I try to help people tune into their own wisdom.”- Virginia Satir

Faith in the process

I believe that even in brokenness, there is hope. I trust God and the therapeutic process to reveal resilience, purpose, and clarity over time.

Empowerment

I help clients reclaim their agency and voice, challenging them to reframe their perspective and step into the life and relationships they desire.

Compassion

I approach every client with empathy and care, honoring their story while helping them develop self-compassion and acceptance.

Cultural Sensitivity

It is important to me to recognize that your culture shapes your identity, experiences, and mental health, while also adapting my therapeutic approaches accordingly.

Therapy with me may be right for you if…

Find it challenging to communicate your needs, wants, boundaries, and limitations with your family, friends, spouse, or partner.

Struggle to envision a hopeful future for your life, career, marriage, or relationships because you’re caught in a cycle of replaying past wounds and hurts.

Grapple with regulating your emotions, resorting to numbing, isolating, or putting on a mask in social situations due to a fear of rejection or judgment?

Aspire to enhance your connection and attachment with your child as a parent, seeking to nurture this bond without compromising your own sense of self or becoming overly strict?
